Hello nursing students!

Developing interview skills and a strong resume is important at any stage in your nursing career whether you are applying to an externship, or beginning your job search in hopes of landing a position on your dream unit!

To help you prepare, NSTAMP, NSAY, and 2NA are partnering with Professor Aslam and Professor Skerratt to host an Interview Skills Workshop on Wednesday, January 19th, at 6 pm.

This workshop will involve a presentation by Professors Aslam and Skerratt regarding how to prepare for interviews including several interview questions used in 5 prominent GTA hospitals, followed by a peer-facilitated discussion and question and answer session.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Hello nursing students!

2NA is hosting an Active Bystander Training event in partnership with The Centre for Sexual Violence Response, Support, and Education (The Centre) at York University!

This event will be Part 1 of our Nurses Against Sexual Violence event series, so stay tuned for an upcoming Part 2 this term.

The Active Bystander program aims to educate York community members to intervene when witnessing any form of sexual violence. The Centre at York University provides education on what sexual violence is, how consent can be incorporated in our daily lives and empowers individuals to intervene when witnessing forms of sexual violence.

As future healthcare professionals we are in a unique position to recognize and intervene in suspected incidences of sexual violence, and therefore it is important that we develop strategies and an understanding of how to approach these instances with patients. As an active bystander, you can help decrease the barriers for survivors to reporting an incident and seeking support.

We hope this event will be a valuable and insightful experience, and that you take away strategies which can be used in your own future nursing practice!
